Rich Demerara Sugar. It’s not store bought “Brown Sugar.” Not by a mile. Unlike brown sugar, which is just refined white sugar, bathed in molasses, our Demerara Sugar is a large-grained, raw sugar from Guyana (a colony formerly called Demerara by a river of the same name). We chose this Demerara instead of the kind grown in Hawaii, because on these Guyana Plantations, in the heart of the rainforest, there are no chemical fertilizers used on their organic crops. Guyana's, unrefined Demerara Sugar is full of natural chromium, cobalt, magnesium, manganese, and zinc. These are minerals vital to your skin’s nutritional health (for elasticity, firmness and glow while removing dead skin cells).
Sugar Scrub versus Salt Scrub:
Everyone knows the value of salt for healing skin. The reason it heals is because of its mineral density. We bring you these same healing minerals in a sugar instead of a salt. Exfoliation, of any kind, can cause skin abrasions. When you exfoliate with sugar, there is no sting left behind… only the same, wonderful upload of vital skin nutrients.

Demerara Sugar has Glycolic Acid (Alpha Hydroxy Acid or AHA), important for encouraging cell turnover and promoting new growth to reveal the baby skin underneath. It also contains, Silica, important for firming and tightening, promoting skin smoothness. We have paired our Organic Sugar with an incredible base of Organic African Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Mango Butter, Hempseed Oil, Grapeseed Oil and Vitamins A, C, E and F, so that once the humectant properties of the sugar bring outside moisture (air/water) into the skin, the premium butter's and oils seal it into place and the real healing work begins. For the face, neck and other private and sensitive areas, Demerara Sugar brings moisture below the skin’s surface allowing it to “plump” naturally.
